Lars KolindLars Kolind, born in Denmark in 1947, is a mathematician and a leader. He served as director at Denmark’s National Research Laboratory from 1981 to 1984, became COO of Radiometer A/S – a world leader in scientific instrumentation – from 1984 to 1988, and was responsible for the dramatic turnaround of troubled hearing aid manufacturer Oticon, which he led to world leadership during his ten years as CEO from 1988 to 1998.

Kolind is involved in public work within the fields of education and social welfare. He was a founder of The Danish Competency Council, which published the world’s first national accounts on human capital in 1999. He also founded The Danish Business Network for Social Cohesion and The Copenhagen Center, a government agency that fosters partnerships between the public and private sectors in Europe to fight social exclusion.

Lars Kolind became world famous for the “spaghetti organization” which remains incorporated in teaching at universities and business schools worldwide. He collaborates with The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, the publisher of his latest book: “The Second Cycle – Winning the War on bureaucracy.”

Lars Kolind serves as non-executive board member or chairman of a number of corporations. He among others serves as Chairman of the Board at The World Scout Foundation.

Lars Kolind is an adjunct professor of leadership at the Aarhus School of Business. He has received several awards, including Denmark’s Man of the Year in 1996, and his work is used as classic management cases at many leading business schools around the world.
